The team name of the individual or team submitting an attempt. This will also link to a team page on the exc.org website, where teams can post pictures, videos, blog links, etc. about all their EXC attempts.
Crew
The number of crew. Solo = 1, Tandem = 2, Crewed = 3+

Men, Women, Mixed, Other. Don't see yours listed? Send a message and we'll add it, no questions asked. All are welcome - Lake Erie is wet no matter who you are.

The age or ages of each crew member
Exhibition
Y if the attempt is in the Exhibition Class, otherwise leave blank. The Exhibition Class is for vessels that do not meet some requirement, or some other rule has been bent in favor of allowing a team to make an attempt. Exhibition class scenarios must be discussed and agreed upon before making an attempt, and do not count for setting course records.

Monohull, Proa, Catamaran, Trimaran
For Sail, Paddle, Row, and Pedal below
Choose a value if your vessel is equipped with each option, regardless if you used it or not. If you carry it on your vessel for the attempt, it must be listed. Have human power not listed? Send us a message and we'll consider adding it....
If

Blank = no sail
Y = sails with total area of all sails greater than 1.4 sq. meters / 15 sq. feet
K = sails with total area of all sails less than or equal to 1.4 sq. meters / 15 sq. feet. Kayak style pop up sails (e.g. Falcon) go here

Every vessel should carry a paddle for emergency propulsion, regardless of primary human and/or wind power method.
Row/Pedal
Y or Blank as appropriate
Make/Model
The brand, model, and length of your vessel. So you can go buy the boat that beat you, and still lose.
Course Name
Trans Erie (TE) or Nav Course (NC)
Format
Trans-Erie Course (TE)
-
OCO - Ohio > Canada > Ohio
-
COC - Canada > Ohio > Canada
Nav Course (NC)
-
NC24, clear as many Nav Course checkpoints as you can in 24 hours.
-
NC100, clear all (100%) of the Nav Course checkpoints once
-
NC200, clear all of the checkpoints twice (so, 200%). All checkpoints must be cleared once before any checkpoint can be cleared a second time. This is 'The Big Kahuna' of the EXC series, especially when attempted in the Portage Division.
Portage
Y/N
Portaging zero times during your attempt will automatically put you in the Non-Portage division. Portaging 1 or more times during your attempt, automatically places your team in the Portage Division. This will be shown in the .gpx/.kml file from your submission. Once you are in the Portage Division, you can choose to portage - or not - whenever you want during the rest of your attempt, day or night. You are not required to portage every portage-able checkpoint. But, if you portage one of them - welcome to the Portage Division for that attempt.
XML
A link to the gps file used to ensure your attempt follows THE RULES
Start/Finish
In MM/DD/YY | HH:MM;SS format for both
For Finish:
DNF = Did Not Finish
DQ = Finished, but was Disqualified for not following THE RULES.
DNF/DQ = Did Not Finish and was also Disqualified. This is just so DNF'ers will also know when if they broke THE RULES, so they don't lose the benefit of that knowledge for future attempts.
#CP
The number of checkpoints cleared in a 24 hour period for the NC24 only. Higher is better. This is how you win the NC24. Ties are broken by CompTime, as calculated below, with the faster time winning the tie.
CompTime
This is your Completion Time for the attempt, expressed in HH:MM:SS, as calculated by the time elapsed between Start and Finish times. Lower times are better, and will place your attempt higher on the Overall leaderboard as well as the leaderboard tab for the specific course:format for this attempt. For all races besides the NC24, this is how you win - your parents will be very proud.
Nonstop
Bragging rights, on the honor system. This basically just means you never leave your vessel, and your vessel never touches dry land or a dock. You can anchor, and tie up with other vessels that are anchored. You can swim alongside your vessel so long as you don't touch the bottom of the lake. Any other form of contact with the bottom, land, moorings, docks, or other vessels not at anchor - by crew or vessel - DQ's the team as a Nonstop submission.
Unsupported
Bragging rights, on the honor system. While all EXC attempts are technically unsupported, resupply along the course is permitted. This includes things like refilling drinking water, buying provisions at a general store, charging electronics at a campsite, getting parts or repair help from others, etc. - these are all normally allowed. An Unsupported attempt is intended to simulate a true expedition scenario, where you must carry everything needed with you from the start of the race. This includes food, drinking water (or a means to make it), power charging, and making your own repairs with supplies carried with you. Taking on any additional supplies, using land electricity, or assistance from others DQ's you as an Unsupported submission. See THE RULES for more specifics on what is allowed and what is not.
